Welcome

We'd like to welcome you to a school created with love, and which attempts to see the world through a child's eyes –to take into account children's physical and emotional needs, their one hundred languages, and their dreams.

We are very much aware that such a school will be a totally new experience for many families, and that there will be many questions. We have prepared this handbook so that you can learn about Kaleide's philosophy and the way our school (and yours) functions. We ask you to read it calmly before your child starts at Kaleide. If you have any questions, we'll be more than happy to help.

As well as a school, Kaleide aspires to be a meeting point: a space connecting people and collectives who strive to make the world a better place. We would like to be a catalyst within our neighbourhood, in our town, and on the island; to contribute to imagining and bringing forward other ways of seeing in the spheres of childrearing, education, sustainability, consumption, mobility, public spaces; and to bring the ethics of care into the relationship between nature and human beings.

We sincerely appreciate the trust you have placed in us, and hope that every step of this shared journey will bring us closer to the place where, as families and individuals, we would like to be.
